The Zurich Community Trust donated around 20 bags of goodies to Brendan’s Bridge for the charity to distribute to young people and their families from the Eastern European community.
The bags included English, Polish and Czech chocolates, cakes and sweets as well as other goodies. Most went to members of the Roma FC football team but members of the team also kindly passed on some of the bags to younger children in their community.
PCSO Stu Hopkins and Youth Worker Jane Dyer met with some of the young people on the day before Christmas Eve to distribute the gifts. This was very apt as most of the Eastern European families celebrate Christmas on the 24th.
Also among the gifts were a number of advent calendars which went to younger children who Brendan’s Bridge is working with.
One young person wrote a letter of thanks to Zurich and said: “Oh my goodness, my mum tried really hard to get an advent calendar this week but all the shops had run out. How did you know? This is brilliant.”
